The SNMG2 Units, under the Command of the Italian Navy Rear Admiral Paolo Fantoni, visited Tunis prior to their participation in NATO’s Anti-Submarine (ASW) exercise DYNAMIC MANTA 2020, to take place in the Mediterranean Sea from 24th to the 6th March.
During the visit, the Staff conducted courtesy calls to the main civil and military authorities. In particular, Rear Admiral Fantoni visited the Chief of Staff of the Tunisian Navy, Admiral Abderraouf Atallah, while the Ships Commanding Officers had a meeting in the office of the Mayor of La Goulette.

The SNMG2 is part of the NATO Rapid Reaction Force, performing naval operations to provide security in the Mediterranean Sea, representing a key instrument for the Alliance’s cooperation with the partner Navies. The relations between NATO and the Mediterranean countries have been the main subject of the Force reception held on board ITS CARABINIERE, where the Naval Group met the main military and diplomatic authorities in Tunisia, who received the welcome by the SNMG2 Commander.
