DYGD20-II has provided SNMG2 the opportunity to plan and exercise a full range of activities under a controlled EW environment, to practice procedures and tactics, and to get a proficient level of interoperability with allied maritime units that participate in NATO maritime operations.
Spain hosted the exercise and contributed with five ships, a submarine and two Eurofighters.
SNMG2 is one of four standing maritime task groups composed of ships from various Allied countries. These task groups form the core maritime capability of NATO's Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF). They provide a continuous maritime capability to execute NATO missions across the spectrum of operations, demonstrate solidarity, and strengthen diplomatic and professional links among Allied naval forces.
