Deputy Commander of NATO Maritime Command concludes assignment

NORTHWOOD, UK - Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean has concluded his 3-year assignment as the Deputy Commander of NATO Maritime Command (MARCOM) on 1 June, 2020.

His contribution to NATO Maritime Command was honoured in a ceremony at the MARCOM headquarters on Monday.

I will be motivated by the desire to enhance the cooperation between NATO and EU

“It is time for me to leave the ship after three years as the deputy commander of the extraordinary MARCOM headquarter. In my new position as the Director General of the European Union Military Staff, I will bring with me good memories, precious lessons learned, best practices and a vision of happiness at work that I will attempt to reproduce. I will definitely be motivated by the desire to enhance more and more the cooperation between NATO and EU,” said Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean.

He is now moving to Brussels to assume his role as the Director General of the European Union Military Staff, where he starts on 30 June.

MARCOM’s incoming Deputy Commander, the French Vice Admiral Didier Piaton, is set to assume his new position on 29 June, 2020.
