Operation Sea Guardian Special Operations train with Armed Forces Malta


MALTA - Previous week Operation Sea Guardian (OSG) Special Operations Command Control Element (SOCCE) and Malta Armed Forces trained together with respect to boarding operations.

As part of the training MARCOM SOCCE together with Centre of Excellence Maritime Security Mobile Training Teem meet with Malta Special Operational Forces representatives inside the La Valetta Navy base facilities. They exchanged information about boarding tactics, techniques, procedures and common understanding of Maritime Special Operational Forces. Training also paved the road for further cooperation in NATO-Malta cooperation.

SOCCE offered by Turkish Navy, consist of multinational staff, has the mission to conduct Maritime Special Operations in the Mediterranean Sea in support of HQ MARCOM within the mandate of OSG. While conducting special operations, SOCCE has the capacity to take control of assigned Special Forces. Furthermore, SOCCE will provide MARCOM the awareness of relevant SOF engagements with partner nations to enable MARCOM to tailor the engagements with these partners.
