MARCOM Brings Operators and Academics Together

NORTHWOOD, United Kingdom - NATO Maritime Command (MARCOM) brought together NATO Maritime High Readiness Forces and Maritime Centres of Excellence for a one-day coordination board dubbed the Maritime Enterprise Advisory Board (MEAB) at MARCOM headquarters in Northwood, United Kingdom January 25, 2018.

The MEAB is an opportunity for maritime operators, the customers in this relationship, to discuss and define the types of assistance required from Maritime Centres of Excellence, the providers in this case.

Approximately 25 participants from 13 different organizations attended the MEAB discussing topics ranging from capabilities development and experimentation to future Maritime Enterprise engagements and synchronization.

"The MEAB is an excellent opportunity for the operational ready forces to work with the Centres of Excellence to build for NATO’s future,” said Vice Admiral Hervé Blejean, MARCOM Deputy Commander. "The MEAB is only one day, but it helps generate connections and a network to make it easier to pass information back and forth.”

MARCOM is the operational command of all NATO maritime forces. Like its land and air counterparts (LANDCOM & AIRCOM), MARCOM reports directly to NATO’s Allied Command Operations (ACO), but also works closely with Allied Command Transformation (ACT) to advocate for maritime capabilities and initiatives.
