Operation Sea Guardian ships conduct joint training

MEDITERRANEAN SEA – Last Friday, April 21st, the Portuguese frigate NRP Bartolomeu Dias and the helicopter from italian frigate ITS Euro performed a joint training exercise while patrolling in the Mediterranean.

Following careful planning between both ships, ITS Euro’s helicopter conducted a flight deck landing operation with NRP Bartolomeu Dias.

This was the first time an Italian Navy AB212 helicopter landed on NRP Bartolomeu Dias´s flight deck during ongoing operations, providing both warships and the helicopter crew with a unique training opportunity.

Exercising while operating improves the levels of interoperability, increasing the common knowledge between the crews while conducting the mission. Following the training, both warships continued with their patrols in the Mediterranean Sea.
