Experts discuss Amphibious Operation

NORTHWOOD, United Kingdom – Allied Maritime Command headquarters in Northwood, UK served as a stage for the Amphibious Leaders Expeditionary Symposium (ALES) 2017, co-hosted by Commandant General Royal Marines and Commander, US Marine Corps Forces Europe and Africa on November 21st and 22nd.

ALES 2017 brought together Marine and Naval Infantry Senior leadership from eight Allied nations and four NATO Commands with representatives from European and US Think Tanks. This group of experts reviewed and debated options to enhance amphibious support to NATO, develop command and control, improve interoperability and increase readiness of their amphibious forces during crisis response.

During this two-day event, key aspects of maritime and amphibious operations were discussed, with the goal of better operations within large scale Allied operations. Amphibious Operations are a crucial discipline and must be well integrated and full interoperable within NATO operations.
