Royal New Zealand Chief of Navy Visits MARCOM

NORTHWOOD, UK – Yesterday, NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) welcomed the Royal New Zealand Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral Jack Steer, to discuss Royal New Zealand Navy participation in NATO operations.

The New Zealand Warship HMNZS TE MANA became the second partner nation to support NATO’s counter-piracy task force as part of Operation OCEAN SHIELD in 2014. Future opportunities for cooperation in additional areas, such as NATO’s counter-terrorism Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR, were part of the discussion.

"We have been very satisfied with our previous partnership engagements with the Royal New Zealand Navy,” said Vice Admiral Bruno Paulmier, Deputy Commander of MARCOM.  "We look forward to future opportunities to cooperate, and yesterday’s visit helped lay the groundwork.”
