MARCOM Staff Members Receive NATO Awards


NORTHWOOD, UK – Last week, Mr. James Bergeron (USA) and Lieutenant Christine Godelain (FRA N) were presented NATO awards by Commander NATO Allied Maritime Command, Vice Admiral Peter Hudson CB CBE.

Mr. Bergeron is the political advisor to the Commander Maritime Command and was awarded the NATO Meritorious Service Medal for distinguished service while assigned on NATO duties.

His citation states the award was given "… for his exemplary service to Strike Force NATO (STRIKFORNATO) during Operation UNIFIED PROTECTOR and for his tireless support to NATO’s reassurance efforts in the Baltic States.  His dedication and exceptional contribution to NATO makes this award thoroughly well deserved”.

Lieutenant Christine Godelain, staff officer for Operation OCEAN SHIELD at NATO Maritime Air Command was awarded the Supreme Allied Commander Europe’s Recognition Award for outstanding performance and leadership.

Her citation states the award recognized "... her tireless and pro-active support to maritime air missions in Operation OCEAN SHIELD.  Her dedication to achieving MARCOM’s mission makes her a worthy recipient of this award.”

"This ceremony as an important moment for MARCOM’s family,” said Vice Admiral Hudson. "It is truly a pleasure to recognize these staff members for their hard work, perseverance and commitment to MARCOM’s wide array of Allied operations.
