MARCOM Hosts German Chief of Navy

NORTHWOOD, UK – Today, the recently appointed German Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Andreas Krause, visited NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) to pay a courtesy call on Commander NATO Allied Maritime Command, Vice Admiral Peter Hudson.

Vice Admiral Krause took command of the German Navy on October 28, 2014.  He previously served as the Deputy Commander of Allied Maritime Command Naples from 2012 until its closure in early 2013, at which time he spent several months in Northwood working with the MARCOM Command Group.

During the visit, Vice Admirals Hudson and Krause discussed the implementation of the Readiness Action Plan, NATO’s counter-terrorism Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR, and NATO’s counter-piracy Operation OCEAN SHIELD.  Vice Admiral Krause also took advantage of the opportunity to meet with MARCOM’s German staff members to discuss national issues.

"Vice Admiral Krause played an integral collaborative role in the development of the future maritime posture of NATO,” said Vice Admiral Hudson.  "I am most grateful to him for his insights, and I look forward to the opportunity to work together again with him in his new demanding assignment as Inspector of the German Navy.”
