MARCOM Hosts Deputy SACEUR

NORTHWOOD, UK – Today, the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR), General Sir Adrian Bradshaw, KCB OBE, visited NATO Allied Maritime Command (MARCOM) to meet with Commander MARCOM Vice Admiral Peter Hudson, CBE, and discuss relevant developments in the maritime domain with the MARCOM command staff.

Discussion areas included progress on the Readiness Action Plan, force deployments in support of assurance measures in 2015, and the current and future status of counter-terrorism Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR and counter-piracy Operation OCEAN SHIELD.

"We appreciate General Bradshaw’s visit as an important opportunity to have a frank discussion on our progress in implementing measures decided upon at the Wales summit,” said Vice Admiral Hudson.  "We have taken significant steps over the past three months both toward full operational capability and toward our long-term planning for operations in the maritime, which blends seamlessly into the Allied Command Operations strategic picture.”

General Bradshaw assumed his current appointment as DSACEUR on March 28, 2014.  The DSACEUR’s primary responsibility is to act as the deputy for the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and he is heavily involved in the generation of forces for operational missions such as Resolute Support, and the coordination of interaction between NATO and the European Union.  He has also been very involved with NATO Assurance Measures and implementing the Readiness Action Plan, including the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force. He is a former Deputy Commander of ISAF and a former Commander of UK Land Forces.
