Travel Guidance

Testing, self-isolation and quarantine rules change from 24 October 21.

Before you Travel to the UK

Unless you are travelling from a RED List Country

  • If you are fully vaccinated you do not need to take a test before travel.
  • You must book a covid test on day 2.
  • Currently this is a PCR test but from 24 October 21 this can be an LFT test.
  • Tests must be booked with an approved UK Government provider , workplace and NHS free home LFT kits are not acceptable.
  • These rules also apply to personnel under 18 years of age normally resident in UK regardless of vaccination.
  • There is no requirement to quarantine nor to take additional tests before returning to work in MARCOM.

If you are unvaccinated

  • Take a COVID-19 test (preferably PCR) and get a negative result during the 3 days before you travel.
  • Book and pay for a travel test package, which will include COVID-19 tests to be taken during your quarantine.
  • Complete a passenger locator form with details of where you will quarantine when you arrive and the package booking reference number.
  • Quarantine at home or in the place you're staying for 10 days.
  • Take 2 coronavirus (COVID-19) tests at Day 2 and Day 8 of your quarantine.
  • You may be able to end self-isolation early through the 'Test to 'Release' scheme by testing on Day 5 (not allowed for people coming from a red list travel ban countries).

If travelling from a RED List Country

  • You must take a test 3 days before you travel to UK

  • You must book a managed quarantine (Hotel Package) including day 2 and 8 tests.

For specific members with specific roles, this test will be reimbursed by NATO upon COS authorization after DCOS proposal or suggestion. For any additional question on these matters, please contact with your respective DCOS.

All travel abroad for either TDY or Leave must be approved by COS.

SNR Responsibilities:

  • Promptly notify DOM & MEDAD of any COVID-19 related issues affecting your personnel or members of their households 
  • Keep COS informed of any COVID-19 National matters affecting your personnel

The MARCOM personnel who travelled from Countries NOT INCLUDED in the Red list travel ban countriesare allowed to go to work at the HQ, no need for quarantine.

The MARCOM personnel who travelled from Countries INCLUDED in the Red list travel ban countries, have to self isolate for 10 days from date of return according to UK GOV rule.

MARCOM personnel that finished a period of quarantine because of travel, must:

  • Notify DOM that you are returning to work
  • Keep your ACOS and SNR informed of your status

MARCOM personnel that finished a period of quarantine because were a close contact, must:

  • Notify MEDAD that you are returning to work
  • Notify DOM that you are returning to work
  • Keep your ACOS and SNR informed of your status

Staff members will have to use public transportation to/from MARCOM HQ during "off peak" periods (not travelling between 0630-0930 and 1600-1900); daily routines will be adjusted accordingly by DCOSs and ACOSs.

  • Always wear a face covering 
  • Keep a minimum 2 meters apart from others 
  • Use hand sanitiser frequently
  • Do not touch your eyes, nose, mouth
