EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN (Oct. 11, 2017) – HMS Ocean, SNMG2 Flagship, conducted an act of Remembrance to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in previous conflicts. The entire Ship’s Company, Bravo Company of 40 Commando Royal Marines, members of 820, 845 and 847 Naval Air Squadrons and a detachment of US Marines were formed up on the flight deck for the poignant service –over 800 personnel.

SOUDA BAY, Greece – On Sunday the 29th of October, UK amphibious ship HMS Ocean assumed as SNMG2 Flagship, relieved HMS Diamond, whilst alongside in Souda Bay, Crete.
 
HMS Ocean concluded its participation in the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation in the Caribbean Islands left devastated by Hurricane Irma.

NORTHWOOD, UK – Exercise BRILLIANT MARINER 2017 is a Non-Article 5 Crisis Response Operation Exercise designed to support the certification of the naval component of the NATO Response Force (NRF) for 2018. Three NATO Standing Groups are to support  the French Aero-Naval Rapid Reaction Force (FRMARFOR) in the Mediterranean Sea off the coasts of France, Italy and Spain between September 29 and October 13.

MEDITERRANEAN SEA – Last week the Greek frigate HS Salamis and the Portuguese frigate NRP Bartolomeu Dias, while deployed to NATO’s Operation Sea Guardian in the Mediterranean, in a demonstration of  agility and complementarity of NATO maritime operations, have completed a replenishment at sea (RAS) with the Spanish Tanker ESPS Patino, deployed with Standing NATO Maritime Group Two, Task Unit 02 (SNMG2 TU02).
